A Year of Community, Creativity & History

This year has been one of our most memorable yet at No Ordinary Museum. We opened our doors to schools, families, authors, elders and visitors from all walks of life. Together, we celebrated Black History Month, hosted workshops on Africa & Egypt, science and invention, intergenerational tea parties, community storytelling, and unforgettable children’s activities.

We welcomed pupils who explored heritage through hands-on learning, partnered with colleges and schools for special projects, and launched new events designed to bring generations together. From author meet-and-greets, craft sessions and Saturday School plans, to the laughter and wisdom shared at our Pensioners’ Tea Parties — every moment reminded us of why we do what we do.

Most importantly, we’ve watched people connect, learn, and discover history in new, joyful and meaningful ways. We are proud of every milestone, every smiling visitor, and every conversation that carried our mission further.

As we look back on a year of growth, community and heritage, we prepare to end the year with a celebration of Christmas and togetherness. Here’s a look back at the moments that made this year truly No Ordinary.

School Visits & Educational Workshops

This year, schools from across the community stepped into No Ordinary Museum for immersive learning experiences unlike any other. Pupils explored our exhibits, discovered real stories of Black heritage and world history, and took part in hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and conversation.

Our school visits have included workshops on Africa & Egypt, Windrush, Inventions & Science, Traffic Lights STEM activities, heritage storytelling and creative projects. Children made shea butter cream, designed flags, created artefacts, solved puzzles and took part in trading challenges that brought history to life.

Teachers and students told us how inspired they felt after visiting, and we watched classrooms transform into spaces of excitement, collaboration and discovery. Each visit reaffirmed our mission: to provide education that connects history to the lives, imagination and learning of every child.

We look forward to welcoming even more schools in the year ahead — and continuing to teach, inspire and celebrate history together.

Summer at No Ordinary Museum

Our summer was filled with creativity, learning and family fun. Children and parents joined us for crafts, storytelling, history workshops and hands-on activities that brought heritage to life. From art and music to cultural learning and games, every session was designed to inspire curiosity, confidence and imagination. It was a season of laughter, community and unforgettable memories — and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.

Celebrating Children’s Creativity & Artwork

This year, our young visitors filled the museum with imagination and colour. Through our hands-on workshops, children designed flags, created keyrings, explored heritage crafts, built traffic lights, and made artwork inspired by history. Every piece of art told a story — of identity, culture, family, and pride.

We watched ideas come to life in paintings, drawings, crafts and sculptures. Children worked together, tried new skills, and expressed their creativity with confidence. Their artwork now forms part of our growing legacy of young talent at No Ordinary Museum — a reminder that creativity has no limit when children are given space to learn, explore and be themselves.

Storytelling at the Hemel Hempstead Lights On – 15th November 2025

We were honoured to be part of the magical annual Lights On in Hemel Hempstead celebration this year. No Ordinary Museum brought our signature storytelling to the heart of the community with festive tales, cultural stories and interactive moments for children and families.

From young listeners to grandparents, everyone joined in the fun as we shared stories that celebrated imagination, heritage and togetherness. Surrounded by Christmas lights, laughter and community spirit, it was a night to remember — filled with warmth, creativity and festive cheer.

We’re proud to have been part of such a special local tradition, and we look forward to returning again next year.

Celebrating our Anniversary

✨ Remembering Our Beautiful Celebration – June 2024 ✨

June 2024 will always be remembered as one of the most special moments in the story of No Ordinary Museum. It wasn’t just an event — it was a day filled with heart. A day when strangers became friends, when memories were shared, and when our community stood side by side, celebrating everything we are and everything we have overcome.

The museum was alive with smiling faces, warm embraces and the sound of voices reconnecting after years apart. Parents, grandparents, children and young people filled the space with joy. It was the kind of gathering that reminded us how powerful it is simply to be together.

We listened to elders share stories that touched our hearts. We watched children take in history as if it belonged to them — because it does. We celebrated our culture, our identity and our strength. The love in the room was real, and it left a mark on everyone who was there.

So many guests told us that it made them feel seen, valued and uplifted. They felt at home, and we felt it too. June 2024 wasn’t just a celebration; it was a reminder that community is something we must protect, nurture and invest in. It was a day that showed us who we are when we stand together.

It taught us that the work we are doing matters — that creating a space where every voice is heard, every heritage is honoured and every person is welcome is something we should never stop fighting for.

We left that day with full hearts and a renewed purpose. And every event since then carries the spirit of June 2024 — unity, joy, belonging and hope.

It was a day we will never forget. And it has shaped every step we have taken since.
